Operations Manager – Concrete Repairs

Opportunity to head up a new division, working for a leading civil engineering group – sound interesting? Worth a chat to find out a bit more info?

This specialist contractor, established over 30 years ago, is leading the way on organic growth, following a fantastic couple of years securing new work. They operate across the civil engineering spectrum – airports, roads, rail, bridges, structures, cut & carve taking on projects up to £100m in value, largely across the south (with plans to expand UK wide)

They have a successful, busy concrete business within the group HOWEVER their offering doesn’t include concrete repairs – that’s where you come in. Use your contacts and sector knowledge to get this new division off the ground and start to build the business.

Brief summary of what you’d be up to:

  • In conjunction with the MD, produce a strategic growth plan for this new business (clients, targets, methodology, challenges etc)
  • Spearhead the business development drive alongside the relevant teams
  • Participating in recruitment of the management team and operatives
  • Supporting the development of high-quality bids, pre-qualification questionnaires, and client presentations
  • Work closely with the preconstruction team during pre-contract planning stages
  • Overseeing secured contracts to meet financial, safety, quality, and environmental and group objectives
  • Leading teams and delegating responsibilities
  • Staying up to date with current legislation and industry regulations
  • Reviewing, approving, and issuing contracts and subcontracts
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety
  • Planning, scheduling, and allocating resources for new projects
  • Coordinating and negotiating with clients, consulting engineers, contractors etc
  • Managing contract budgets, tracking expenditures, and controlling financial outcomes
  • Identifying and managing potential risks
  • Working closely with commercial teams on project performance
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff development and performance

If you’ve got the burning ambition to build something, and enjoy the rewards a few years down the track, this could be the one for you.

Location is flexible, although you’ll need to be prepared to work in their London office a few days a week – the rest of your time will inevitably be running the projects and building relationships with clients.

Naturally, it’s essential your background is in concrete repairs.

Substantial salary and rewards package.
