Project Engineer
London EC1 | £20m Cut & Carve Project | £85k to £90k
A leading specialist contractor is looking for a Project Engineer to join a high-profile £20m cut & carve scheme in the City of London.
This is a hands-on role on a technically challenging project where you’ll be right in the middle of delivery, working closely with the Project Manager and taking real ownership on site.
The job suits someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, is highly self-motivated, and is comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities rather than sticking to one narrow scope.
The Project
You’ll be working on a complex cut & carve redevelopment in EC1, running for around 12 months, with strong potential for further work afterwards across the contractor’s London portfolio.
There will only be one other setting-out engineer on site, so this is a role where you’ll need to get stuck in, support across different areas, and help keep the project moving day to day.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting delivery of a major, complex structural cut & carve project
- Working closely with the Project Manager on day-to-day site operations
- Setting out and engineering duties alongside the site engineering team
- Taking ownership of technical and coordination tasks as needed
- Problem-solving on site and helping drive progress
- Working across multiple responsibilities (“wearing different hats”) to keep things moving
What They’re Looking For
- Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent)
- Around 5+ years’ experience as a Project Engineer
- Strong background on London-based construction projects
- Cut & carve / structural alteration experience highly desirable
- Confident working independently and taking initiative
- Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced site environment
Why This Role?
- Immediate start available
- High-profile City of London project
- Real responsibility and variety on site (not a narrow role)
- Strong contractor with ongoing London pipeline
- Opportunity for longer-term work if performance is strong
- Exposure to complex structural delivery in a live environment
This is a great fit for someone who wants to be fully involved in delivery, not sitting on the sidelines, and who enjoys the pace and challenge of London cut & carve projects.
