Job Title: Operations/Contracts Manager – Specialist Enabling Works Contractor

Salary: £100k to £110k plus bens

About the Role

We’re working with an established specialist enabling works contractor who are carving out a strong reputation on some of London’s most challenging projects. They take on demolition, structural alterations, temporary works, soft strip, piling and groundworks – mostly in complex, tight city-centre environments across the capital. Project values tend to be £1m to £5m and they take these on as a principal contractor.

They’re now looking for an Operations Manager to come in and join the Senior Ops team as workload continues to grow. If you enjoy being the person who keeps everything moving, supports teams on the ground, and helps shape how the business operates day to day, this could be a good fit.

Brief duties

• Overseeing multiple enabling works projects across London, taking full ownership from preconstruction to handover

• Supporting and guiding project managers, site managers, and supervisors.

• Championing Health & Safety/compliance and consideration for sustainability/environmental obligations

• Working closely with clients and internal teams to keep communication clear and consistent.

• Managing resources – labour, plant, subcontractors – ensuring everything is where it needs to be.

• Involvement in preconstruction, offering insights on methodology and buildability.

• Looking for ways to improve operations, streamline processes, and generally ensure consistent project delivery

• Reporting into senior leadership and contributing to strategic discussions.

What We’re after

• Degree/Masters in Civil Engineering or similar

• Someone with proven experience in enabling works, demolition, civils, or related specialist packages.

• A strong understanding of health & safety and central London’s construction environment.

• Confident managing multiple fast-moving projects at once.

• A natural communicator – someone who keeps teams aligned and clients reassured.

• A leader who’s hands-on, approachable, and proactive.
