One of the best things about this new role is that you’ll work closely/be mentored by an experienced Commercial Manager and Director. This will enable you to develop best practice as a QS and get your career moving towards QS and beyond.

This business is flat out busy across several core areas: cut & carve, builderswork packages, structural steelwork and specialist demolition services. Most projects are in central London with some across the home counties and range from £100k up to £5m in value.

You’ll work across two of their key areas – structural steelwork and specialist demolition projects. You don’t need to have direct experience with these specialist areas, however it would be useful if you’ve worked for specialist contractors or subcontractors. As long as you’ve got some decent experience as a QS post degree (circa 4 to 5 years plus) that’s the key. It’s a fast paced role with quite a few separate projects to be involved with commercially, so a keen eye for detail and good organisational skills are a must.

It’s expected you’ll be based in their head office 3 days a week (in St Albans) and whizzing around sites for the other 2. So it would be more than handy if you live near to St Albans to be honest, just so you haven’t got a slog of a commute.
