Location: West London
Salary: £70,000 to £80,000 + Benefits (Healthcare, Pension)

I’m recruiting for a leading specialist basement and structural engineering contractor. For over 30 years, they’ve delivered London’s most technically demanding high-end structural refurbishment/alterations residential projects up to £15m.
As the Preconstruction Engineer, you will shape delivery strategies, influence early designs, and build innovative temporary works solutions for high-profile schemes, strenthening an established preconstruction team.
What you’ll do
- Create Methodologies: Develop sequencing strategies for complex basement and structural engineering projects.
- Lead Technical Input: Design temporary works, excavation support, and ground engineering solutions.
- Optimize Buildability: Identify critical opportunities to improve safety, timeframes, and budget efficiency.
- Manage Risk: Support early-stage cost planning, programme development, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate: Partner with consultants, designers, and site teams to ensure seamless project handover.
What you’ll bring (hopefully)
- Sector Experience: Proven background in engineering in basement construction, geotechnics, or complex temporary works.
- Technical Sharpness: Strong understanding of construction sequencing and structural drawings.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to challenge design solutions constructively to improve buildability.
- Communication: Confident stakeholder management skills to bridge the gap between design and operations.
- Qualifications: A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent hands-on industry site engineering experience.
